AlbinoMouse graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2007 with a shiny Bachelor of Science in Cell Biology and Genetics. Her interests include biodiversity, genetics and evolution, and ethics. Though her education focused on plant systems, she has previously worked in the Centre for Blood Research (UBC) and the BC Cancer Research Centre. Most recently, she accepted a position as a blogger with the Stem Cell Network and is completing an internship at a local software development company.
As an active volunteer, AlbinoMouse believes that volunteerism leads to stronger communities. She has volunteered for UBC’s Cowan Vertebrate Museum (now part of the Beaty Biodiversity Museum), where she prepared bird specimens for the teaching and research collections; the Vancouver Aquarium, where she assisted with exhibit husbandry and interpretation; and also local yearly events such as the Avalon County Fair and the Playhouse Wine Festival.
Currently, AlbinoMouse is studying computer science at UBC and fuels midnight coding sessions with coffee and instant noodles.
